Investing in young people living in rural areas is key to enhancing agricultural productivity, boosting rural economies, and ensuring food security. The "youth rise" in Africa's population speaks to an asset that needs to be nurtured now if the economy of tomorrow is to be productive. The formation of Chakula Bora Clubs in Ndhiwa Municipality is a response to that need. Nature-based, integrated farming and food value-addition is introduced while they are young.
Agriculture is a science. The Chakula Bora Clubs expose students to multiple science disciplines for the examination of an integrated food production ecosystem. Students learn by doing and solve by experimenting.
